I know some are you are going to throw rocks (or perhaps snowballs) at me when I tell you that over the last few months we’ve been looking for the sun here at intergalactic headquarters in Los Angeles.  It’s been raining and raining and raining some more as the storms that are usually pushed across Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico  have  been heading further north.  In fact, we have already had nearly 200% of our normal rainfall (and, yes, there is still much evidence of global warming).  Up north,  Lake Tahoe is at capacity.  They have already opened the floodgates.  Lake Tahoe ultimately empties into the ancient dry lakebed that hosts “Burning Man” each summer.  Some are saying that this mega carnival may have to be cancelled this year unless they want to hold it on boats.

One of the lovely benefits of so much rain in a desert enviroment is what is called a “Super Bloom”.  You may have heard about this on the news.  Carol and I played hookie last week and drove one-and-a-half hours southeast of headquarters to walk the hills that are “on fire” with California poppies and other beautiful wildflowers.

Thought you would like to experience this as well.

We like tourists here in California so remember, this is even better in person.

Have a great spring! Daniel Giesberg
