About DANIEL GIESBERG

We are all about being available when needed, and providing our customers with quality products and services.

Frenemy, Friend, Fred

I’ve told part of this story before.

I started in the “x-ray” business in 1981, having bought a
small company that made x-ray viewboxes.
You can’t buy a sub-compact car today for what I paid for that business,
which was housed in a 2,500 square foot triangular-shaped building.  But it sure was real money to me.

Within the year, we showed at the RSNA where […]

Canary in the Coal Mine

For those readers who have already converted to renewable energy or perhaps are too young to know the term “King Coal”, a canary in the coal mine is an allusion to caged canaries (birds) that miners would carry down into the mine tunnels with them. If dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide collected in the mine, the gases would kill […]

Let’s work together as one large supply chain.

These last two weeks have been crazy for many of my clients
as they rush to help healthcare providers source equipment and prepare for the
wave of patients that most experts believe will be coming to most communities.

The shelves have been emptied of most of the critically
needed general medical equipment from beds, to ventilators, patient monitors,
thermometers, etc.  You may have noticed
that I […]

How to Clean DR and CR Equipment

One of the major equipment companies has offered these suggestions
for cleaning  CR and  DR products.
We thought we would pass them on to you.
We have paraphased this information

These are mostly general, common sense pointers but may be
of benefit to remind your clients and users at this time of great concern.

We have not recommended specific cleaning agents as these
may vary […]

Technology never fails to disrupt…

When I bought a little “viewbox” manufacturer in 1981 many
of my peers told me it was a great move.
I had bought something akin to a paper towel manufacturer; something
everyone was going to need forever and, better yet, there were a limited number
of suppliers and a very stable market for viewboxes.

It was wasn’t until 1983 that our company bought its […]

Are you correctly coding your x-rays performed on older technology?

(Dealers should pass this on to your customers.)

As outlined in the Consolidated Appropriation Act of 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) imposed reimbursement cuts to the technical component for x-rays performed on older technology beginning in 2017 with increased cuts in 2018 and 2023. (See table below.)

In order to track the usage of these x-ray technologies, CMS introduced […]

It’s September…the grapes are coming in…it’s the “wining” time of year again!

As you know, as the self-proclaimed most talkative equipment
broker around, I am reaching out to lots of medical imaging dealers every
week.  Owners, salespeople, support staff,
some end-users and anyone who will take my calls.

I’m hearing lots of complaints about business being slow
(not everyone… dealers in the southeast seem to be having more fun).  Lots of “it’s summer and everyone is on
vacation” […]

Let’s talk Cloud- PACS once more

A few years ago, I wrote my first article about “Cloud-PACS”.  Basically I said it was a great idea but not yet ready for prime time.  Add time, technology, higher internet speeds, more cloud storage capacity and better encryption and I modified my thinking.  I now see real value (in terms of money and organizational simplification) for three types […]

Just for the Beauty of It

I know some are you are going to throw
rocks (or perhaps snowballs) at me when I tell you that over the last few
months we’ve been looking for the sun here at intergalactic headquarters in Los
Angeles.  It’s been raining and raining
and raining some more as the storms that are usually pushed across Mexico
to the Gulf of Mexico  have  been heading further […]

Let’s compare notes on this year’s RSNA (2018).

My first meeting was at 10:00am Sunday morning.  Like most of you, I got my “Exhibitor’s” badge from friends displaying at the show, so I was already halfway into the South Hall at 9:45 when I stopped dead in my tracks.  There was a GE-sized booth I’d never seen before.  Hundreds of people were standing around waiting for something to […]
